10 Overlooked Movie Licensed Games (That Were Actually Awesome)

5. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

The worst thing a video game tie-in to the 2010 Edgar Wright Scott Pilgrim film could have done would have been to actually adapt the movie directly. Had the adaptation followed the path of just about every movie with a fight scene and been a third-person brawler - maybe with a few comic effects thrown in for good measure if the developers could be bothered - then Vs. The World could have been a disaster.

Thankfully, this threw away the generic licensed game rulebook and instead opted to forge its own path. By adopting the art style of the comic rather than the movie, this gorgeously-animated 2D brawler was able to capture the magic of both the graphic novel and the film brilliantly and authentically.

With sprites that were faithfully adapted and spot-on overall presentation, the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World arcade game perfectly condensed the kinetic nature of the film into a beautifully realised retro face-smasher - positively shaming every other downloadable tie-in game in the process.
