10 Overlooked Movie Licensed Games (That Were Actually Awesome)

You could almost hear the apathetic eye-roll of every gamer when news broke that there would be a movie tie-in to the third Toy Story movie. With good kids games being made exclusively by the Lego guys at this point, and with gameplay trailers that showed the same generic combat and platforming we've all seen before, it started to look like the title was going to be nothing but another drop in the bucket as far as terrible licensed games go.

But then there was change in focus, and Toy Story 3 instead began to front the promise of being able to create your own levels and wacky stages that weren't directly inspired by the film, the developers going the extra mile to create something actually innovative inside a licensed title.

So when it came out, rather than the generic and lazy experience fans were expecting, the game actually boasted a wealth of interesting and unique content. The Toy Box mode in particular provided players with almost endless amounts of content as they could create their own environments and missions as they saw fit. To kids, this stuff had to be a dream come true.

In fact, the feature proved to be so popular that it was actually expanded on to become the basis of the Disney Infinity series - not bad for a Toy Story game.
