After being founded in 1986 Ubisoft have gone on to develop some of the biggest blockbuster titles in recent years, with Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Far Cry being just some of the iconic games that have come from the French studio.

One of the studio’s most underrated achievements, though, is undoubtedly Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

Also known by the longer title Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game Of The Movie, this game is one of the best movie adaptations ever created. Part of which was thanks to Jackson’s personal involvement in its development to ensure it stayed true to his film.

Split between playing as scriptwriter Jack Driscoll and the titular giant ape, the game takes players into the heart of Skull Island where they’ll fight hordes of ferocious and frightening monsters.

With limited ammo and HUD elements being disabled by default, Jack’s sequences required players to use makeshift weapons alongside their wits to survive in tense sequences that could be genuinely frightening. Meanwhile, Kong used his immense size and strength to take down bigger foes and traverse the jungle environments.

Presented in a grand cinematic style, this game was epic in every sense of the word.
