10 Perfect Short Video Games To Get You Through A Gaming Lull
7. State Of Decay
State Of Decay may rank as one of the biggest sleeper hits of all time. Released to little fanfare, it's possible that you've never even heard of the game, yet it's heralded by some as one of the best Xbox Live Arcade titles around. State Of Decay plays like a single player version of the smash hit Day Z; it's far more story-driven than Rocket's multiplayer apocalypse simulator but the core ideas are very similar. State Of Decay is set in a zombie-infested world and your overall goal is simply to survive. To do so, you need to set up a home base and recruit survivors to create a society capable of surviving the zombie hordes. The base building mechanics of the game are pretty neat and with your stockpiled resources (food, ammo, etc) constantly draining, there's always a need to explore and scavenge the world. With stealth elements mixed into the gameplay (after all, making noise when surrounded by zombies is a recipe for disaster), State Of Decay has a surprising amount of depth and it's the perfect game to drop in and out of between playing other titles. Some of the game's ideas needed more development but the key concepts on show are well worth a look.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
