10 Perfect Short Video Games To Get You Through A Gaming Lull
6. The Wolf Among Us
With The Walking Dead, Telltale managed to reinvent the point and click adventure game and introduce it to a brand new audience. The game was a massive success, not just because of the massive license it used but also because it told a great story with characters we could fully invest ourselves in. The game's choice system may have had little consequence in the grand scheme of things but simply offering one allows the player to immerse themselves with the game more; it's a highly acclaimed game as a result. The Wolf Among Us arguably betters it though, despite using a lesser known license (the Fables series, published by DC Comics); it creates an equally great story and it has better gameplay to boot. Playing as Fabletown sheriff Bigby Wolf (a humanised version of the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood) turns The Wolf Among Us into a massive whodunnit with Bigby's detective skills leading to twists and turns galore. The supporting cast, especially the irrepressible Snow White, are equally as interesting thanks to the source material's alternate versions of beloved fairy tale characters. Plus, Bigby's rage returns him to his animalistic roots, leading to some great fight scenes which don't just rely on quick time events. Instead, they are highly dramatic affairs which push your reflexes to the limits, all while watching the high stakes action unfold; it's pretty awesome. The game may not be finished yet but there's still a lot to enjoy before the concluding two episodes arrive sometime this year.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
