10 PlayStation Trophies That Are Literally Impossible To Achieve

3. All Online Trophies - Games That Have Suffered Server Closures

We couldn't pick a single game for this entry since there are hundreds of examples to choose from, and as the PS3 generation continues to fade into the distance and more online games have their servers shut down, that figure will continue to grow.

The PS3 ecosystem is still quite active, and if you're a trophy hunter who likes to check back in with the console every now and then, be careful which games you start: the online components of a lot of PS3 games will no longer function, and if those online components were tied to trophies, those trophies are now unobtainable.

The likes of Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, The Last Of Us, Resistance 2, Resistance 3, Burnout Paradise, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3 - and many, many more - have all suffered server closures over the years, making their individual online trophies impossible to achieve. In terms of the PS4, the list is a lot shorter, but notable examples include The Tomorrow Children, WWE 2K17 (plus the older series entries), and Drawn To Death.

In addition to those that have already closed, there are plenty more on the horizon - even for PS4 releases. Driveclub and Dragon's Dogma Online will be going dark in the coming months, and most annualised sports games that are over four years old will also probably be killed off soon. Get those trophies done before it's too late!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
