A minor amendment from Valve's incredibly popular co-operative shooter, Australian and German laws prevented the riot gear zombies from being used in certain campaign levels in the game.

Initially the zombie slaughter fest sequel was banned due to it's high levels of violent and graphic content. Valve then submitted a "censored" version of the game that didn't contain "decapitation, dismemberment, wound detail or piles of dead bodies", as well as the inability to visibly see zombies on fire.

It was then given the thumbs up to be released in the land down under but with an MA15+ rating, which at the time was the highest rating possible a game could be given in Australia, with the German version also featuring similar cuts in these areas.

Another Australian and German noteworthy removal was the omission of the zombies wearing police riot gear who appear in the levels of The Parish campaign, making up an enemy collective known as the Uncommon Infected.

Amid fears these enemies may "encourage violence against official authority", they were taken out but eventually put back in the Australian version with the "SECURITY" wording removed from their outfits.
