10 Pre-Order Bonuses That BROKE Their Video Games
9. Lost Odyssey - advanced skill not available in game
Players who pre-ordered this Japanese role-playing game were given access to what Microsoft and Mistwalker called the Double Bonus Pack, containing an extra 'dream' and a special combat skill. While named innocuously enough, once you dug down it actually contained some very powerful content.
The extra dream called 'The Forgotten Song' simply added some backstory to a series of dreams that filled in gaps in the memories of the characters.
The Master's Secret Script, however, was a different story.
It gave players an advanced combat skill that allowed for frequent protection from enemy attacks. It couldn't be earned in any way during the game, making it an absolute boon to players when first starting.
To make matters worse, what had to be pre-ordered in North America and Australia was made free DLC in the Japanese marketplace, leading to hundreds of players creating Japanese gaming accounts to acquire the bonus once they realized what they had missed out on by not pre-ordering the game.
