10 Promising Video Game Sequels Stuck In Development Hell

1. Path Of Exile 2

System Shock 3
Grinding Gear Games

Finally, we come to an action role-playing dungeon crawler. The product of Grinding Gear Games, Path of Exile proved to be a highly effective dungeon caller that gave Diablo 3 a real run for its money.

The game grew so big and highly acclaimed that the developer started ExileCon, a fan event where the developer gives further details about their work and the changes coming to the title. After claiming PC game of the year from Gamespot and other solid review scores, Path of Exile has maintained a steady popularity ever since.

GGG would spend much of the next decade updating the title frequently and also built console ports for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 and 2019 respectively. When it came to making a full-on sequel, Path of Exile 2 has been announced fairly recently, but very few details about its progress or release have surfaced.

The devleloper's goal with the sequel is upgrade both the graphics engine and gameplay, which also ensuring that the player-base isn't split between games. Some claim a beta version of Path of Exile 2 will be released before the end of 2020, but there hasn't been any confirmation of this from Grinding Gear Games. We may be waiting a while longer.
