10 Rare Video Game Console Variants You Might Actually Own

9. Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Wii U

With approximately 14 million units sold during a lifespan of around five years, it's ironic that, in spite of poor general sales, this is probably the one system on this list most likely to show up in peoples' homes and collections.

"The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Deluxe Set" is quite a mouthful for what essentially boils down to a core, 32GB black Wii U console, but with custom Hylian glyphs and symbols adorning the edges of the much-maligned Game Pad.

Not specifically positioned or marketed to be a rare, one time only special edition, the Wind Waker set was essentially just a different SKU to the regular Wii U system.

With the fantastic and timeless Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker pre-installed on the system, this edition retailed at launch for the usual console bundle price of around £270 or thereabouts, but is a much more expensive proposition for anybody looking to collect this system today.

The Wii U in any format has become something of a rarity, with even specialist high street games stores not exactly flush with this misunderstood console, and prices can regularly run into the £300 bracket for the standard edition(s) alone, although auction sites can obviously list them cheaper.

If you are looking to collect a working, complete in box Zelda themed edition however, don't be surprised if you are asked to part with £400 or more.
