Besides the wacky title, Clay Fighter 63 1/3 is a fairly average fighting game which pales in quality compared to many of the N64's other premiere fighting titles such as Mortal Kombat, Super Smash Bros and Fighter's Destiny. It features a variety of oddball characters all animated in stop-motion, after the clay animation was highly criticized from the second Clay Fighters game. Most critics panned the game due to it having a slow pace, abusive combos and sub-par controls. It's not the demand or appeal of Clay Fighters 63 1/3 itself that makes it desirable, but Clay Fighters 63 1/3: The Sculptor's Cut was a re-released version of the game with additional content, exclusive to Blockbuster. While you could certainly rent the game at Blockbuster, you couldn't purchase it outright anywhere, hence why there are so very few copies in existence. Amazon has the game listed from $250 upwards, with no copies seemingly on Ebay. The box and manual are said to be worth hundreds on their own, as there are so few of them - most store owners immediately threw them away as they were intended for rental only. The exclusivity of the game to North America also adds to the already ridiculous price tag. The Sculptor's Cut adds 4 playable characters, in addition to some minor menu, feature and gameplay edits, making it a must for collectors only. While it's not often desired because of the game's apparently shoddy quality, Clay Fighter 63 1/3: The Sculptor's Cut is undoubtedly one of the rarest N64 cartridges in existence.
