10 Real Endings Hidden In DLC
4. Sonic Frontiers
Now to Sega's credit, they at least didn't charge for Sonic Frontiers' story-finishing DLC, but they did make fans wait the better part of a year to see how it all wrapped up in The Final Horizon DLC.
In the original ending, Doctor Eggman's "daughter" Sage sacrifices herself to prevent The End from destroying the world, though the closing scene reveals that Eggman has managed to rebuild Sage. D'awww.
Yet The Final Horizon isn't really an extension of this ending but rather a remix/retcon of it, offering up an altogether sunnier cherry-on-top ending in which Sage doesn't have to sacrifice herself and so never dies at all.
The fanbase remains split on which of the two endings is better, but The Final Horizon is more-or-less implied to be the canon and definitive one, while the O.G. main game ending is basically an alt-timeline "what if?"
