Ask anyone what they remember about the original THPS trilogy of games, and more often than not it'll be the music that's as fondly remembered alongside the [then] amazing skateboarding.

That's why the remake of the first game, back in 2012, didn't go down very well: they diddled with the soundtrack. It has since been de-listed from digital storefronts since 2017. The problem with nostalgia and remakes is people want the same, but better.

The problem with licensing music out to games is that licenses can and will expire. This means that if a game releases and the developer/publisher hasn't paid to renew the songs used in-game, they're open to a whole heap of trouble.

Never say Neversoft though, I'm sure Activision could easily fork out to bring the classics like Powerman5000, Millencolin and Zebrahead back if they wanted to. It's just whether they want to, that's the issue.
