10 Reasons Nintendo Have Us WORRIED
4. Third-Party AAA Games On Switch
Nintendo's business strategy always takes under-powered hardware and provides great software through their own programming wizardry.
Switch has successfully hosted titles from third parties, in spite of its hardware limits. From Final Fantasy and Doom through to The Witcher III and even Crysis Remastered, the unique selling point of the Switch being able to be played on the go has breathed new life into older AAA titles.
Such success has led Valve to enter the portable hardware market with Steam Deck, the first handheld to go head-to-head with Nintendo since Sony's efforts with the PSP and Vita.
However, concerns linger over AAA games on Switch. It's doubtful it could run a port of the Dead Space remake. Newer Resident Evils are "Cloud Versions." Is Microsoft's promised Call of Duty even feasible? FIFA ports from EA are criticized annually for being poor-quality Legacy editions.
Big-budget development on Switch is looking trickier as the months pass. Nintendo risks losing out on great games over the next decade if they don't step up with their hardware sometime soon.
