10 Reasons Nobody Cares About The Kinect

6. No Core Games

Any gamer knows that in order to make an impression and convince us to buy a console, it must impress us with the software. This is why launch titles for new consoles are so important, and is one reason why Microsoft€™s Xbox 360 was a substantial step ahead of Sony€™s Playstation 3; it had a stronger line up of games available at launch. Without the software, a console is useless, no matter the technology. This also holds true for additional peripheral devices such as the Kinect. It needs games to give us a reason to buy it, and at this point, it has nothing of substantial value. Yes, it does have a relatively large library of games, but most are nothing more than mini-game collections, dance games, and exercise games. These games have a valuable place within the Kinect€™s library, but if it wants to attract gamers who want to play games that offer more than just dancing or exercising, it needs games that will attract their interests. Genres such as shooters, RPGs, and fighting games are all that would attract the more hardcore gamer, but so far are non-existent on the Kinect. As a result, the hardcore gamer, who makes up a substantial portion of the consumer base, has no interest in the Kinect. Why should they when it has nothing of value to offer?
