10 Reasons The Division 2 DESTROYS Anthem
5. There's No Multiplayer Tethering
Of all the inane design choices throughout Anthem, perhaps the most mind-boggling is the ridiculous tethering system, where flying more than a short distance away from your team will result in an aggressive warning message, prompting you to reunite with your team or be forcibly teleported to them.
This feels entirely counter to what Anthem should be about: the thrill of flight and being able to explore the open-world with a squad. The strict tethering systems is anti-fun and, simply, extremely annoying (especially as teleporting requires another damn loading screen).
This is pretty much the exact opposite of The Division 2's multiplayer layout, which encourages players to roam D.C. at their leisure, and never does the game throw up angry messages imploring you to get back to your squad and the mission at hand.
Live-service open-world shooters should be all about choice and freedom, and while The Division 2 is a shining example of that, Anthem is all about restrictions, enforced "fun" and pushing players along a very specific track. Yawn.
