10 Reasons The Division 2 DESTROYS Anthem
4. Hunting Loot Is Actually Fun
The loot system looked like it might be one of Anthem's coolest features, but despite its looter shooter label, the overwhelming majority of the loot is completely uninteresting both in terms of stats and cosmetics.
Most of the guns lack any discernible personality whatsoever, resulting in many players abandoning the game shortly after completing the main story (this one included).
And if all that's not bad enough, there's no ability to quickly switch-out equipment on-the-fly: you're instead forced to head to the Forge and do it. It's yet another bafflingly terrible design decision given the game's genre and the emphasis on acquiring shiny loot.
It's probably fair to say that The Division 2's loot drops could have a little more personality also - the colours seem pared down somewhat to match the game's gritty tone - but the thrill of picking up a purple object is nevertheless unmistakable.
But above this, any equipment can be switched in or out with just a few button presses in the game's menu: it takes mere seconds, compared to Anthem's awkward, multi-minute waste of everybody's time just to try out some gear that's probably rubbish anyway. Appalling.
