8. Affordability

It used to be that the PC platform was an incredibly expensive alternative that gave you a powerful system but also a bottomless sinkhole for your money. Constant graphical upgrades needed, expensive parts to replace and impossibly hard to get your head around if you were a new comer. However this isn't the case anymore. There are tons of affordable systems out there that are prebuilt and entirely accessible Now prices are falling on PC and it is not hard to pick up a decent gaming rig for a couple hundred pounds. While still more expensive than a single console, they are still comparable in price and are helped out by the significant price drop of games. With Steam sales and a constant influx of smaller but really great indie games, you can buy all sorts of games with just your pocket change. This means that picking up a new game on a PC is often much cheaper than it would be if you went out to buy a full priced game. Savings on games, but also on services like subscriptions, means that in the long term a PC can be more affordable than a console. Plus, you will have a massive games library that you won't lose or break that has cost you peanuts compared to full priced retail games.
