When the Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9 first appeared, it was embraced with open arms. The promise of a spiritual successor to the highly regarded Mega Man series seemed like a sure win.

The Kickstarted goal was achieved within a matter of days and further goals were created to enable the developers to input more content into the product. But lengthy delays soon reared their ugly head.

But eventually, Mighty No. 9 managed to make its way onto systems with nothing less than a whimper.

Unrest started to mount when backers of the Kickstarter campaign reported broken codes and not receiving rewards they were promised through the Kickstarter campaign. Though these were quickly rectified, what was left was a poorly constructed game.

The final product was often described as charmless and devoid of any personality. While it was trying to embrace everything that made Mega Man so well loved, it ultimately became too warped in trying to mimic the past that it forgot to focus on itself.

What transpired was a quick downfall for Mighty No. 9 as reviews took online exploiting the games lack of character, which quickly turned it into a mighty dud.
