10 Recent Overhyped Video Games That Absolutely Flopped
2. Homefront: The Revolution
The first Homefront was something of a mixed bag. Though many critics sported mixed to average reviews, many fans supported the game for years, hailing it as a hidden gem. Through strong fan feedback, developer Dambuster Studios, attempted to retry with a soft reboot.
Up to its release, many previews showcased semi-open world environments to explore, explosive combat and a story to invest yourself in. It seemed to spark a lot of interest and build a name for itself again.
After some delays, Homefront: The Revolution finally found its way on shelves and was in no way representative of what the footage showed.
Critics were first to showcase their distaste for the experience with poor reviews, but many hyped fans soon came to realise that Homefront: The Revolution was somewhat of a technical mess.
It was plagued with crashes, glitches and game-breaking bugs which prevented progress forward. Even after substantial patches, Homefront: The Revolution still remains a technical disaster and many of those issues are still prevalent.
It was met with poor sales, and while Dambuster Studios attempted to keep life going with DLC, it was ultimately too late.
