6. Early Access Goes Offline For Hours - Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

As if the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League wasn't already plagued by brutally low expectations, things got even worse for Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Games when the live service superhero title launched in early access three days before its "proper" release.

Shortly after the early access period began, players en masse encountered a bug whereby their game was already auto-completed, forcing Rocksteady to take it offline.

And because Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently an online-only affair - with an offline mode being promised later down the line - this rendered it unplayable for hours. And even once this issue was rectified, the servers were again taken down for maintenance less than 24 hours later.

Naturally loyal fans who'd shelled out £100 for the Deluxe Edition weren't happy about the game being unplayable for a decent sliver of the early access period.

And so to compensate, Rocksteady gifted 2,000 LuthorCoins - the game's microtransaction currency, worth about £16 - to all affected players.

While Rocksteady could've certainly done nothing, many were nevertheless unmoved by this offer, especially as LuthorCoins can only be used to purchase in-game cosmetics.

Above all else, it underlined how desperately the game needed an offline mode at launch, because as gaming proves time and time again, launch day for online-only releases is almost always rough.
