Developer: tri-Ace Platform: PlayStation 2 The premise: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time starts out normal enough (for an RPG). You play as a young lad that lives on a sci-fi planet, before being propelled into a strange, medieval world. It gets weirder: The universe in which Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is set is filled with a bunch of advanced civilizations and futuristic technology, but it's soon revealed that it's all a big lie. In possibly the most 'meta' moment in an otherwise serious game, it turns out that the universe of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is actually just a big MMO. It's the weird, JRPG version of The Matrix, and the characters attempt to escape the game in which they're trapped. They go on to battle the creator of the MMO, in order to exist outside of the game in 4D space and avoid 'deletion'.
