Time flies! We are, somehow, well on a way through 2023 at this point and it's time to start really looking at what the rest of the year has to offer for us gamers. We are fast approaching the second batch of releases for the year and there is plenty of good stuff to come to look forward to.

But, much like those addicted to the latest open-world or MMO game, gaming itself never sleeps. There's always talk about what's over the next hill and over the one beyond even that. 2023 might be shaping up nicely in terms of the games we know about for sure, but what about those we don't?

The rumour mill is always turning and it's worth of course keeping in mind that you shouldn't believe everything you read. In fact, more so, you shouldn't put too much stock into unannounced games or you might wind heartbroken... all the same though, it's fun to dream, right?

In this list we'll take a look at some rumours for the rest of the year in gaming that have at least some potential for validity in them. Hopefully, by the end of 2023, we can say that all of these dreams came true.

10. Metroid Prime 2 & 3

Metroid Prime Remastered was a very welcome surprise in every way: it's level of polish, it's shadow drop release and, heck, just it's mere existence. Immediately fans started asking about the game's sequels, Echoes and Corruption.

Now, it doesn't take a genius to consider the possibility that this is all part of a long lead-up to the end of the excruciatingly long wait for Metroid Prime 4. The series has been dormant for 16 years so new players at least need the ability to play previous entries to catch up before Samus' grand return, whenever that may be. Of course, the real question is when and in what form.

Well, the internet has good news and bad news for those who are keen to keep the journey going. Sadly, known industry insider Jeff Grubb has said that Metroid Prime Remastered will be the only one of its kind and that it's sequels wouldn't receive the same treatment. However, general rumour does point to them coming sooner rather than later.

If they are more straight-forward ports then at the very least that's far less dev time to get them eShop ready. As such, all three throughout 2023 is very feasible - perhaps leading into Metroid Prime 4 as a holiday release at very earliest or more likely next year.
