Are you a massive fan of horror games? Do you love that feeling of starting a new adventure, not knowing what's about to come next?

That pulse-pounding adrenaline of throwing yourself into a world where anything could happen at any time is one of the greatest feelings out there for horror gamers. When you're really into the genre though, it might feel like you've played all the scary games that exist. Of course, that's not the case.

There are so many horror titles out there that we all know, and have completed usually more than once. Sadly, while these well-known games take all the credit, many others can get lost in the background or ignored completely.

These following games are some of the best lesser-known horrors out there. They are masterpieces of storytelling, world-building and scaring our pants off. If you're itching for your next big scare, there's something for you here.

Are you brave enough to take them on?

10. White Day: A Labyrinth Named School.

White Day is a Korean horror game based around the tradition of, well, White Day, which traditionally comes a month after Valentines Day. It's a day where boys leave gifts for their crush.

When our protagonist sneaks into the school to leave chocolates on a girl's desk, he gets more than he bargained for when he gets locked in overnight. As players explore the school, trying to find a way out, they discover the dark history of the building. Not only that, they’re going to have to rely on quick thinking and wits to survive the onslaught of stalkers and ghosts.

White Day was released in 2001, but the remake came out in 2017. It was met with mediocre reviews which praised the puzzles and slated the difficulty of stalker enemies for “hindering” exploration. The mixed reviews could explain why the game never took off as much as it should have. With it being quite recent, it's one that more people might know, but it seems to be one that isn't talked about an awful lot. It definitely deserves more love.

Simon is a writer, cat dad and presenter of a geeky radio show with his husband. He loves Doctor Who (except 10 who can get in the bin…only joking.) He idolises Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lara Croft and would 100% be a Sith Lord in a galaxy far, far away. He wishes life was like a musical so he’d actually be a good singer.
