10 Sci-Fi Games To Play While Waiting For Mass Effect 4
7. The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds, from Obsidian, is always going to get that comparison to Fallout. Whether you see that as good or bad depends on how much you enjoy the latter, really.
But I would go one further and say that even if you don't like Fallout, you should give The Outer Worlds a go.
Disassociate the comparison and you've got an enjoyable, bright and colourful, expansive space-faring RPG to get stuck into.
Yes, it does have a similar retro-futuristic dressing, mission structure and progression system to Fallout, but... does that matter?
As someone who's grown tired of Fallout since New Vegas (also made by Obsidian), I found TOW to be the rejuvenating uplift I needed. There's plenty to do, many quests to do and paths to take in this adventure.
There's also a comprehensive weapon and combat system, as well as a whole battalion's worth of sidekicks you can recruit.
In the absence of Mass Effect for narrative, and Fallout going down the online/PvP path, what better time to engrossed in something like this?
At time of writing, it's also on Xbox/PC Game Pass. Bargain.
