It’s not uncommon for game franchises to be rebooted to fit the needs of a modern generation. This happened with the Prince of Persia. The original game was developed in 1989 and years later, the series was updated with the Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time trilogy.

While the first game drew references to stories like Raiders of the Lost Arc and The Adventures of Robin Hood, the later series took a more fantastical approach. Both versions stayed true to the overall narrative: a mysterious prince needed to free his land from evil forces, while making time to rescue a princess as well.

Even with the update, developers didn’t forget about what make the series so popular. It’s why they featured a secret level based on the original game in Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time. To access the area, players needed to start a new game and press a series of buttons.

On PlayStation 2, the combination involved holding the L3 stick and pressing X, square, triangle, circle, triangle, X, square, circle.
