Survival horror games occupy a special place in the gaming universe. They give horror fans the chance to shoot, stab and bludgeon their way through waves of the undead and help them prepare for what a real-life zombie apocalypse might look like.

Dying Light is an impressive entry in the ongoing saga of survival horror games. What makes it stand out from other zombie games is the day and night cycle, which changes the behavior of enemies and makes them more difficult to deal with. The player can also feel emotionally invested in protagonist Kyle Crane, who grapples with completing his undercover mission and helping other survivors.

The stakes are certainly high in Dying Light, which makes the inclusion of a secret Super Mario Room a nice surprise in such a serious game.

The room is found in the south west corner of the Old Town level. Search for a rooftop with a familiar looking green pipe and drop down into a Super Mario inspired world with shrunken zombies and blocks.

Resist the urge to jump on the zombies!
