6. Necromancer Amulet - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Skyrim’s quest “Blood On Ice” is a murder mystery in which you have to catch the killer responsible for the deaths of several young women in Windhelm.
The mission requires you to do some detective work to catch the real killer. Even more, if you want to get rewarded for it!
Although following the objectives in the mission will allow you to finish the quest like regular, there are actually certain unmarked interactions that can affect its outcome, and this includes the reward you get for catching the culprit.
After you visit the serial killer’s hideout in Hjerim and retrieve his amulet, you have to have it appraised by Calixto, the owner of Windhelm’s house of curiosities.
After explaining the amulet belongs to a necromancer, Calixto will offer to buy it off you. Now, since the item might be useful later in the interrogation, and more importantly, since Calixto is secretly the killer, it seems more reasonable to refuse his offer.
However, selling the item will secretly turn it into the true Necromancer Amulet with unique buffs to Magicka that you can easily retrieve off Calixto’s dead body after you stop his killing spree!
You get the killer, the killer’s money, and his fancy magic necklace!
