10 Seemingly Pointless Video Game Choices That Have Surprising Consequences
8. Mercurio Is A Real One - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
In Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines, you play as a vampire, so you technically have a lot of time to see how the things you do play out.
In fact, the developers seem to have taken this idea to heart when designing the game's very first mission.
Your first task in vampiric society is to help the prince's ghoul, Mercurio, acquire a bomb to blow up the warehouse of a rival vampire sect.
Mercurio tells you that he bought an explosive from a local gang, but when you meet him, it turns out that the criminals have crossed him and beat him to the point of near death.
After you dispose of the gang and steal their bomb, you get the option to help Mercurio recover by bringing him some painkillers. This will save his life and allow you to turn him into an ally if you don't expose his failure to the prince.
The decision doesn't feel significant early in the story, but in the final act, when everyone turns on you, Mercurio will actually remain a friend and offer to sell you unique and extremely powerful weapons that can help you easily defeat the final bosses.
It's nice to have someone who has your back!
