10 SEGA Mega Drive Games That Deserve a 21st Century Overhaul
4. X-Men 2: Clone Wars (Genre: Hack N' Slash Action Multiplayer)
While the comics continue to thrive and the movies rake in the cash, there hasn't been a memorable X-Men game in a number of years. It is my personal belief that the last truly great X-Men game came in 1995.
Clone Wars allowed the player to take on the role of Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Wolverine and, after unlocking him, the incredible Magneto. The big bad of the original game actually becomes an ally after the greater threat, the Phallanx, threatens all humanity.
What made the game so much fun was how different every character felt, and how loyal they were to the source material. Beast was super athletic and could reach places the others couldn't. Wolverine could lunge halfway across the screen to dismember enemies. My personal favourite was Nightcrawler – I would run up to an enemy, get them to fire at me, then disappear, allowing the laser to pass me by and hit whichever character my brother had chosen.
A remake could help reignite gamers' passions for local multiplayer. With a shared screen, 1-4 (or more) players can pick their favourite mutant from an expanded roster, each with their own unique move-sets and powers, and take on waves of enemies and challenging bosses.
