10 Sega Mega Drive Games You Forgot You Loved

2. The Adventures Of Batman And Robin

Based on the highly popular Batman: The Animated Series, this sidescrolling shoot-em-up with a distinctly dynamic duo flavour is by far the best of the vast array of Dark Knight games for the Mega Drive. With graphics similar to the feel of the TV show and two player support, this game has Batman and Robin venture through several locations as they do battle with iconic villains such as The Joker, Mr Freeze and the Mad Hatter. Fiendishly difficult but immensely rewarding to finish, the game has you, or you and a friend, traverse through each of these levels, attacking thugs with batarangs and punching/kicking them in the face. The levels are particularly memorable, especially the Mad Hatter stages which take place on a crazy trip through Wonderland, complete with deadly teacups, sugar cubes and evil gnomes. To mix things up, there's also a level where you end up piloting the Batwing to do battle in the sky against Two Face's flying armada. As is common with other games of the era, there are alternative versions of this game for the SNES and Sega CD. Neither is as good as this one, and if you were looking for your Batman fix back in the day, you really couldn't go wrong with this one.
