http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5OmP757bLY At least all of these games are rooted in some sort of reasonable reality that it makes sense to simulate; Hatoful Boyfriend on the other hand is not so lucky, because, well, it's a simulator about a girl who wants to date...pigeons. A human girl attends an institute for pigeons and is on the lookout for male pigeons to date. Perhaps to ease us into how freaking weird this game is, the first time we see the pigeons, they are presented in an anime-style human form, but after that, it's simply a straight-up girl-dating-a-pigeon sim, whatever that actually means... What really makes the game work - because one can only assume it's a joke game and not a serious aspect of Japanese culture - is the hilariously flirtatious dialogues that the pigeons would field out. Here's one zinger; "Living as a hunter-gatherer sounds tough...I'd be happy to make you breakfast, you know?", says a pigeon as he stares creepily out of the corner of his eye.
