3. Blackflame Friede - Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel
As the final boss in Dark Souls III's Ashes of Ariandel DLC, players expect a lot from Sister Friede. Unfortunately, while your showdown with her is no easy feat, it's hardly likely to leave you cussing.
Thankfully, once you've beaten her down, she comes in with a second phase that ups the ante. In it, her blood awakens the intimidating Father Ariandel, and you delve into a two-on-one fight that feels like a far more fitting test to feel pride in finishing.
The thing is, even after this phase, the fight isn't over, and this next reveal does hurt.
After defeating this dastardly duo, Friede whips out her best "sisters are doing it for themselves" energy and turns into Blackflame Friede. She then comes at you with a vengeance, hellbent on whooping your butt.
The panic upon this reveal leaves you scrambling as you quickly try to jump back into the action. You're far more likely to mess this one up, thanks to how out of the blue it is. It's a reveal that truly catches you with your pants down.
