10 Terrible Video Games Based On Movies

8. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Atari)

Games based on horror films have a pretty poor reputation as it stands, but few are as mind-meltingly offensive as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, especially when you remember that the film is actually one of the better examples of the slasher film. While the player takes the mantle of the villainous, chainsaw-wielding maniac Leatherface, it'd be difficult to know that from playing the game; in the above screenshot, he's the one in green, and doesn't so much appear to be holding a chainsaw as he seems to be holding out his arm. Could the developers have not at least given the weapon a different colour!? Seriously... Everything about the game's aesthetic is wrong; bright colours are not what Tobe Hooper's immortal horror classic was about. All the game has you do is run about the screen chasing down the hapless teens, and if you bump into objects like the wheelchair pictured above, then the game emits a cacophonous beeping sound, which only infuriates the player further.
