10 Terrifying Horror Video Games Coming In 2016

6. Allison Road

When Silent Hills was unceremoniously canned by Konami and taken off the PSN Store so that no one could ever experience one of the most greatest horror experiences ever again, it left a void in our dark hearts that needed to be filled.

Allison Road quickly stepped in to fill that void, and the photo-realistic first-person horror from newcomer developer Lilith was quickly hailed as the 'spiritual successor' to Silent Hills as soon as that excellent first trailer was unveiled. The game initially began raising money on Kickstarter, but the campaign was cancelled when it found a publisher in Team17, who are now funding its development.

Set in an elegant English townhouse, where your character wakes up in with no memory of recent events, you have to snoop around, taking in clues from the environment to slowly uncover the grim reality of what happened to him and his family. It's got something of Gone Home about it, but rather than turning into a sweet tale of teenage love it descends into a brooding, sinister horror that's more akin to The Grudge meets PT.

The game is built on Unreal Engine 4 and looks absolutely stunning, and while we wait for HIdeo Kojima to deliver us his next horror game (which he recently said he's interested in doing), then Allison Road will satisfy our masochistic needs.
