9. A Single Protagonist Is More Dramatically Rewarding

Before RDR2 was revealed, it was widely expected that the game would probably follow the multi-protagonist set-up of GTA V, but alas, it ultimately unfolds with just a single protagonist.

While this was initially deflating for some fans, it in fact proved an extremely smart choice, allowing players to better identify with Arthur on his slog of an adventure, counter to the more surface-level bond players probably felt with Michael, Franklin and Trevor in GTA V.

The character-switching gimmick was masterfully executed no question, and there will be few vocal complaints if it indeed returns for the next GTA, but at the same time, focusing on just one main character does allow for richer characterisation and player investment.
