10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Final Fantasy XV

7. Stilted Dialogue And Bad Acting Breaks Every Emotional Moment

Breathe through your teeth. Go on, just breathe through your teeth a couple of times. You've just performed the exact same method of 'acting' that happens every time a remotely sad or otherwise emotional moment happens in Final Fantasy XV.

It's worth pointing out that many of the most iconic entries in the series have always had pretty basic, motive-defining dialogue (just look at Kefka in FF VI), and the real problem with the franchise is that by vocalising such things, it tends to make the overall script feel far weaker.

In XV's case, it means Noctis is forever the scoffing, "I'm so DONE with everything" pugnacious prince, Gladiolus is the gruff, "A fight? Now you're talkin'!" bruiser, Iggy the regal, well-spoken protector and Prompto the energetic 'comic relief.'

Insights into their true character get revealed either in Brotherhood or at completely random intervals in the game, but when things like Noctis' childhood love and future wife Luna being killed in front of him amount to a lot of floor-gazing and teeth-sucking, it serves to highlight that a ton of Final Fantasy's identity is better transmitted through text.
