10 Time Murphy's Law Invaded Your Video Game
7. Panicking And Selecting The Wrong Gun
The one problem with being allowed to carry enough guns to equip a small army is having to manage them and match the right gun to the right enemy, often under pressure. But we’re only human and it is easy to panic, particularly coming around a corner and finding oneself face-to-face with Resident Evil’s Mr X dressed up as Thomas the Tank Engine.
Cue horrified back-pedalling while flailing frantically at the controls. What should come up but the humble pistol. Plinking uselessly away at the grinning horror our desperate search for suitable armament continues only to reveal...a sniper rifle: powerful, yes, but unable to hit the broad side of a bus at close range.
Finally coming upon something with proper oomph – a rocket launcher – we inevitably forget a little thing called splash damage and promptly blow ourselves, along with the ruddy tooting train, to bits.
There are more humiliating ways to go: you could be using the Bio Rifle in Unreal Tournament 4, forget that the blobs of goop it leaves lying on the floor damage you, panic when you inevitably take damage, retreat over the same blobs of goop, and subsequently die.
If only that was not a true story.
