10 Time Murphy's Law Invaded Your Video Game
8. All Cars De-Spawn When You Need One
Throwing people out of their cars and making their ride your own is one of GTA and Saints Row’s guilty pleasures. It’s certainly much easier than going to all the trouble of finding a dealer and buying one.
But you will, at some point, find yourself being chased by the police or gangs and will need to – expeditiously – trade your shot-to-shreds, badly-on-fire car for a new one. Inevitably, a litany of disaster follows: your vehicle will explode before you can get out, leaving you half, or entirely, dead.
Should you survive this bit of misfortune the streets will be emptier than a DCEU fan club, and, even if there is it will be a slow-as-molasses dump truck or bus.
Cue a pointless attempt at escape with enemy cars swarming around like bees and the screen pulsing an ever more ominous red. The worst of it will be that as your character expires in a spectacular fireball you will note something maddeningly depressing – suddenly there are loads of cars about. In fact, you will be stuck in traffic.
Mental note: next time, steal a tank.
