6. Sim City Server Meltdown
EAEA can do a lot of things right. Millions of us worldwide lap up the likes of FIFA and Madden on an annual basis - only to then complain that 'nothing's changed' again - but still as soon as FIFA had perfected their game and overtook PES for the football crown it was off to the cloning factory forevermore. You'd think with so much heft and quality control, they'd have been suitably ready for the onslaught of avid stat-crunching gamers dying to get stuck in and create their perfect utopias. They were not. Instead even following months of feedback and comments let right and centre as to what needed to be tweaked, swapped out or removed entirely, EA and Maxis' collaborative entry into the Sim City canon is a total disaster on every level. Servers crash on a regular basis, A.I. control patterns fall over themselves trying to look busy - and worst of all the 'always online' prerogative means being locked to loading icons and screens not minutes after putting the disc in. A complete and utter mess.
