10 Times Star Trek Appeared In Other Video Games

2. Mortal Kombat

There are references to Star Trek dotted throughout the Mortal Kombat series, though they do tend to favour nods to the greatest villain of them all, Khan Noonian Singh. In Mortal Kombat Vs. D.C. Universe, Captain Marvel (not that one) tells Superman, Deathstroke the Terminator and the Joker that their enemy is named Dark Khan. The Joker immediately breaks into the famous Kirk screech from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Mortal Kombat 11 features many Star Trek alumni lending their voices to the game, including Peter Weller from both Enterprise and Star Trek Into Darkness, Phil LaMarr, Jennifer Hale, and the OG Shang Tsung, Cary-Hiroyuki, who pretty much defined the role in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie (Chin Han is perfectly fine in the 2021 adaptation.) Hiroyuki appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation's Encounter at Farpoint, tying the two franchises together.

If the player chooses Johnny Cage as the voice of the announcer in this game, when cycling through the characters, he will announce Shao Khan with a mimic of Kirk's cry, echoing the Joker from the other game in the franchise.
