10 Times Star Trek Appeared In Other Video Games

3. Minecraft

Minecraft Klingon
Mojang

Minecraft began life in 2009 when it was released to personal computers. It was developed, initially, by Mojang before this was taken over by Jens Bergensten. It is now the best-selling video game of all time, with 200 million copies sold and over 126 million active monthly users as of 2020. It has been an enormous success story, often cited as the best video game of all time. Social Media, MineCon, YouTube, and word of mouth have combined to make this the juggernaut it currently is.

There are many Star Trek nods and references dotted into the game. The splash screen features quotes from and about the franchise, such as 'Engage!', 'KHAAAAAAAN!', and 'Not as cool as Spock!' The last reference here was a 'correction' of an earlier quote that stated the game was 'Cooler than Spock.'

Not on your life, friend.

One of the most fun aspects of the game is the ability to set the language to Klingon. Although Kingon is a difficult language at the best of times, players can navigate through the world by trying to remember the original works of William Shakespeare, which were of course Klingon in origin. Other references include nods to warp speed and subspace travel as well.
