Widely regarded by many as the best game in the series, Kingdom Hearts II didn't get anywhere near as much praise as it rightly deserved.
Despite there now being over eight different games in the Kingdom Hearts series, the second still stands as the best one out of the bunch. Kingdom Hearts II added to everything the original did, whilst having a much more satisfying combat system than the first.
Complaints about a confusing overarching story aside, Kingdom Hearts II doesn't deserve much of the criticism it got. Calling the game too easy, or 'mash triangle to win' are completely unfounded, especially if you choose to play the game on critical, where it becomes a true challenge.
By no means did Kingdom Hearts II get the worst reviews in the world, but when you consider how much it defined the series and how little credit it gets compared to the first it was definitely misjudged.
Let's hope they get it right when Kingdom Hearts III rolls around.
