10 Times Video Game Franchises Were Rebooted Into The Worst Thing Ever

2. Dungeon Keeper Mobile

EA

A cult-classic strategy series released for the PC in the 1990s, players began petitioning for the Dungeon Keeper franchise to make a return ever since the third game was cancelled all the way back in 2000.

And in 2013 it seemed as though EA had finally answered their prayers to bring the series back. The only problem was that the reboot was going to take the form of a free-to-play mobile game.

Clearly designed to be as frustrating as possible, the game is purposefully hell to play if you're not pumping money into it. Like most mobile titles the game assigns a real-time counter to activities that halts progress, but it's so aggressive that even simple tasks can take over a whole day to accomplish before you can continue.

Despite being riddled with microtransactions and home to a viscous pay-to-win mentality, EA is content to keep disrespecting the Dungeon Keeper name now that it's making them big bucks on mobile.
