10 Times Video Game Villains Spared You

1. Dante - Devil May Cry 4

Dishonored Daud

As the leading man in the franchise, Dante has always been a driving force behind the franchise's success. His cool and campy nature often establishes its laid back tone. In Devil May Cry 4, however, Capcom changed things up a bit and put him on the other side against new protagonist Nero.

Dante appears as an antagonist in the fourth game, but doesn't hold much of a grudge against Nero; instead he crashes the party, gets him out of the way, steals the Yamato sword and leaves. Nero is tasked with stopping Dante by the Order of the Sword Congregation.

As the game goes on however, Dante starts to have more respect for the younger demon hunter, not to mention becoming a playable character in his own right. As the two characters run through the same campaign, the differences between them are established and although Nero dislikes him at first, they don't come too close to killing each other.

By the game's conclusion, the wildly popular character realises Nero's strengths and allows him to keep the Yamato, gesturing with a curt wave of his hand as he walks away. It would be a full decade before the two would be sighted in another Devil May Cry title.
