10 Times You Came Back From The Dead To Kick Ass In Video Games

As much as Sonic the Hedgehog might be one of the most indelible video game characters in history, that doesn't mean he's beyond suffering an actual narrative death - outside of the player's own clumsy inputs, that is.

In his eponymous 2006 game, Sonic is actually straight-up murdered by the villainous Mephiles, who fires an energy wave straight through Sonic, killing him instantly.

While we all know that Sonic's never going anywhere, it's still a mildly shocking moment...at least until the heroes use the Chaos Emeralds (the Sonic world's Infinity Stones, basically) to resurrect him.

And because the resurrection isn't enough, Sonic also ends up returning stronger than he's ever been to defeat Mephiles, who is now in the form of Solaris, and save the day.
