2. Halo 5: Guardians

While the trailers told you that you were going to, quote, "hunt the truth", and the game would revolve around an epic showdown between Master Chief and Locke, that wasn’t the focus at all.

Locke spends the whole game seeking our OG protagonist who is himself chasing down a Cortana gone rogue, come the end they decide to get over it and that’s pretty much it. It almost feels like the people making the trailer didn’t know what the direction of the game was going to be, the studio changed their mind after it was made, or that the publisher decided to intentionally misguide fans hoping they’d still buy the story they opted to sell.

Long story short and a sea of disappointed Halo fans later it’s safe to say this was a big let down.
