We can't talk about iconic and beloved villains without everyone's favorite artificial sadist. GLaDOS is one of the most recognized characters in gaming, and for a very good reason. Her genocidal tendencies only accentuate her sassy attitude and talent for destroying your self-esteem with passive-aggressive remarks.
As far as evil deeds go, killing an entire lab full of scientists with neurotoxins is definitely up there. Throw in GLaDOS' fascination with dangerous human experimentation, and you get a pretty irredeemable villain. But again, that's what makes her so fun.
Yes, she keeps trying to kill you, and you are nothing more than a meat bag on legs to her; however, her condescending attitude is what makes her so great. It makes solving all the puzzles in the game difficult, as she will keep making fun of you every step of the way, always making you curious to find out how she's going to top the ruthlessness of her previous insult.
On top of that, GLaDOS is also a pretty sympathetic villain. Being an unwilling human subject herself who was forced into becoming an AI, you can't help but feel bad for her, even though she keeps making you feel really bad about yourself.
