F.E.A.R is one of the few games to balance intense action with nerve-shredding horror, and though there are one too many jump scares, the game still works a treat. It’s also got a surprisingly complex story, involving experiments, evil psychics and vengeful ghost girls.

One of the mysteries surrounding the story is the question of what happened to teammate Spencer Jankowski, who disappears early in the game, only to be seen in ghostly form later on. This naturally suggests he didn’t make it, but his body is never found and the game never confirms his fate.

That’s until F.E.A.R 2, where he makes an uncredited cameo as a corpse on a table during an early section. The developers also confirmed he died, but they removed a section where you find his body to make his disappearance creepier.
