Twenty years on, GoldenEye is still considered a masterwork in the FPS genre, and while it hasn’t aged super well, its impact can’t be denied. The game has no shortage of Easter eggs and cheat codes for players to discover, but greedy players insist on finding more.

One thing that puzzled observant fans was the presence of an island off in the distance on the opening Dam level. It was clearly a place you were supposed to visit, but there’s no way to get there in the game itself. Tinkering with the code allows you to inspect it, to see it’s basically a tiny space with a turret and guard tower.
